Why I’m Trading LinkedIn Scroll Time for My Own Blog
LinkedIn Is a Casino Without the Free Drinks
Ever notice that LinkedIn is basically a casino without the free drinks?
I log in to “check a message” and three hours later I’m knee-deep in a 27-comment argument about whether CAC should be calculated with or without sales comp.
A Blog I’ve Been Ignoring for Too Long
I’ve had this blog for a while.
It’s mostly been a digital storage unit for half-formed finance rants—opened once a year, full of dusty metaphors and broken links.
Meanwhile, LinkedIn eats my day like it’s on retainer.
And every time I scroll past another “7 Ways to Leverage Synergy in Your KPIs” post, I think: I could be writing my own stuff.
Stuff I actually control.

The Shift: More Posting, Less Scrolling
The WordPress app now lives on my phone.
Which means I can post from anywhere without the black hole of scrolling.
No algorithm drama.
No vanity metrics.
No dopamine hit from watching my “views” climb like a stock about to tank.
Protecting Bandwidth for Bigger Ideas
It also means I won’t be lurking in comment threads as much.
Not because I don’t care—just because I’m writing my first book, and if I give every hot take the oxygen it demands, I’ll never finish the thing.
And I want bandwidth for bigger ideas.
More posts, less doomscrolling.
More value, fewer filler words disguised as insight.
Building Something That’s Mine
So here’s to an experiment: taking my time, focus, and questionable metaphors off the LinkedIn buffet and serving them here instead.
No middleman.
No algorithm.
Just me and anyone else who stumbles in.
Maybe no one reads it.
Maybe a few people do.
Either way, it’s mine.

It’s free.
I’m just trying to keep the spammers away.

What do you get from a personal blog that LinkedIn doesn’t give you? I’m still interested in that tradeoff.
